I check in here every Friday, but my fitness week is Monday – Sunday. So my check-ins are always about a week behind.

Last Week (September 4 – September 10, 2023):

After a relaxing Labor Day brunch at the neighbors, the week ushered in a “back to routine” feeling. My daughter is back in school, and I’m back working my normal schedule. Then starting Friday, I did a lot of volunteering to raise money for our local HS Chem Free project. (Some places call it Project Graduation – it’s an event-filled, fun overnight after graduation to keep kids safe.) I chair the committee and we work at a local festival selling sodas and water. The chamber then donates to our group. I was on my feet for hours both Friday and Saturday, but it was lots of fun. All of the kids who volunteered were fantastic.

Weight: I was down 0.6 pounds for the week.

Goals: I did a LOT better with my caloric intake this week. In fact, all the overage is literally from one day. We had a big potluck on Sunday to watch football. I thought I was making good choices, but when I added it all up, I was WAY over. I didn’t exercise as much because on Friday and Saturday I was volunteering and on my feet all day, so I did get exercise minutes and burn calories – it just wasn’t actual “exercise.”

Don’t forget to join the Facebook Group and check in with us there!

Goals for August:

  • Stretch for 10 minutes 5 days per week. – 3/5 days
  • Close all three “rings” in Apple Watch, 5 days per week. – 6/5 days
  • Move with purpose (exercise) at least 30 minutes, 5 days per week. – 4/5 days
  • Be under my DAILY caloric intake maximum on at least 3 days. – 3/3 days
  • Be no more than 500 calories over my total calorie consumption goal each week. – No (+1,171 cals)
  • Limit alcohol intake to 2 days per week (for a total of 4 servings per week). – 2 days (3 servings)

My overall goals for 2023 are:

  • To maintain a healthy weight and not exceed my January 1st weight. I will do with through healthy eating and exercise. I don’t have to be perfect, but I do need to make a true effort.
  • To add yoga and add meditation to my weekly routine. I will do this with the Peloton app, with a goal of yoga at least one time per week. I will do this with the Apple Watch Breathe app, with a goal of a short breathing meditation every day.
  • To remain an active member of FitReaders and support my fellow members. I will do this by actively participating in the FitReader Facebook Group and continuing to share my journey with my weekly check-in on the blog.
So are you ready to lace up your sneakers? Are you ready to up your commit to fit?
