September 26th: Do you download freebies? Read free preview chapters?
Short answer: Sometimes.
I have been known to download free ebooks. We just had a major “stuff your ereader” event last week, but this time around I did not even look at the page. I was just way too busy and the bottom line – I hardly ever read the free books I download from those type of events. Maybe one per year, when I collect dozens. Another place I download from is Amazon Prime’s free “read early” books, yet I don’t ever read them. The freebies I do read more often, however, are the ones I get from authors – when it’s a specific book I want, or I win something I try for. Or the freebies that come with author’s newsletters, I’ll read those.
As for preview chapters – nope. I never download them. I don’t read them on author’s websites. I don’t like to be “spoiled” or “read ahead.” I will do snippets, but not full chapter previews.
