November 7th: Sci-Fi, Urban Fantasy, Epic Fantasy… do you read them? What do you prefer?
YES, YES, YES!
My love of reading started with speculative fiction, with childhood favorites like A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L’Engle, The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster, and The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis. Two of my all-time favorite books are Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton and Dune by Frank Herbert. Current favorite series include several urban fantasy, sci-fi, and fantasy books like Kate Daniels (UF) and The Innkeeper Chronicles (sci-fi) (both by Ilona Andrews) and The Seven Kennings by Kevin Hearne (fantasy).
I enjoy all three the genres mentioned above, with and without romance as part of the mix. I really don’t prefer one over the other, as long as there is excellent world-building and amazing characters.
