What I’m Talking About:

“Expect a most agreeable letter, for not being overburdened with subject (having nothing at all to say), I shall have no check to my genius from beginning to end.”

Excerpt from personal letter, Jane Austen

The quotable Miss Austen from her letters and novels has a lot to say on life and this Little Book of Wisdom brings the quotes together under several topical sections. I was eager to peruse the quotes in this giftable palm-sized collection of sagery.

Jane Austen’s Little Book of Wisdom is the size that will slide into a deep pocket or a purse to be pulled out now and then to glance through a few quotes or can be sat and read through in a brief amount of time.  With a striking smooth matte cover and pretty antique blue styling, the cover side flaps that will tuck around pages, and the carefully formatted pages with graphics to accent and organize the sections of the book, this will make a nice treasure for the reading shelf.

“Nobody minds having what is too good for them.”  Excerpt from Mansfield Park, Jane Austen

The quotes are sorted by topics so can also be great for a reference to those looking for a quote to slip into speech or correspondence.  And, for every occasion, the book can offer a fun quote to wow friends, family, or total strangers.

Personally, I’m a huge fan of Austen so I was delighted to page through and spot many quotes I’m already well familiar, but also several more that I hadn’t recalled or were altogether new to me.  Andrea Kirk Assaf brought together some clever words by my favorite author.

As I’ve said, this will be a great gift for a lit lover or one who likes to use quotes, a reference tool, or a pocket treasure for an Austen fan.

About the Book:

The ultimate companion for the Jane Austen fan filled with her penetrating insights and humor on life, love, and death.

Jane Austen is one of the most popular female writers in history, best known for her stories of love, loss, and hope, which are cleverly intertwined with her witty insights into the traits and expectations of English Georgian society.
Here, in this stunning little book, you will be able to read hundreds of individual quotes from her famous works—from Pride and Prejudice and Emma to Persuasion and Sense and Sensibility—each prompting an emotional response, thoughtful musing, or even a little snigger at the wise and shrewd perceptions that Austen had of the world around her.
Utterly charming and very profound, fans of Jane Austen can revel in these much-loved quotes, while a new audience will be introduced to the joys that her books have provided since their publication many years ago. With each chapter focusing on a different theme—from Love & Longing to Female Strength—this gorgeous gift book is the perfect compilation of Austen’s funny, moving, and thought-provoking words.
