What I’m Talking About:
Opening during the concluding scenes of the first book Celestial Velocity, Volatile Conjunction shifts to the POVs of Amaryllis and Ivan. She’s there to steal Bea’s prototype engine but would rather be relieving the wealthy of their jewels. Ivan, worried that she’ll interfere with Quin’s plans, chases down Amaryllis and ends up her prisoner.
Volatile Conjunction is an entertaining space adventure filled with exciting action and an enemies-to-lovers romance. Although the story is standalone, it’s best enjoyed as the second book in Ashe’s Rogue Justice series. The plot of Bea’s stolen prototype engine continues, and based on the ending of this one, I think (and hope) it will carry on. Volatile Conjunction introduces a mysterious collective with a shady businessman.
I enjoyed getting to know both Amaryllis and Ivan, who share a passion for life and action. There has always been an underlying attraction between them, but it explodes the moment the two find themselves alone. As the pair spend time together, each realizes that the other isn’t the “bad guy” they assumed. In fact, both are pretty soft on the inside but have different reasons for their hard exteriors. I love how Amaryllis works her way to an HEA, as well as the turns that will lead to future adventures.
If you enjoy space adventures and exciting romances, I recommend the Rogue Justice series.
