Featured Author Q and A:
What are you looking forward to most at Coastal Magic Con 2025?
I’m looking forward to meeting and making connections with readers and new author friends.
Can you tell us a little bit about your writing: What genres do you write? Do you prefer to write one genre over another?
I’m a reader who reads across genres and subgenres, which turned me into a writer who writes similarly. I write romance across multiple subgenres—Romantic Suspense, Sports Romance, Paranormal/Shifter, Motorcycle Club, Cowboy/Contemporary Western, Contemporary, Romantasy, and Contemporary. I don’t have a preference because I’m always in love with whichever story I’m writing.
What is your newest/upcoming release?
My most recent release is Draft Pick Season III: Denzel. It’s the third book in the series that began in Kindle Vella. The heroes in this series can be over the top, but they are fiercely loyal and protective. The heroines are fierce in their own right, yet vulnerable with their men. Season III follows Denzel and Dominique. Denzel is a former professional football player who is now a sports analyst and businessman. Dominique is an actress who’s navigating landing her first starring role. The two find themselves (through Denzel’s creativity) cohabitating when she moves to Atlanta after accepting the role in her own streaming series. And, the rest, as they say, is explosive chemistry history.
What inspires you to write your current book/series?
Once I wrote my first book, it was as if the floodgates opened. The people living in my head made themselves known. So, each story seems to spawn another. I am also frequently influenced by things I see around me which inspire stories based on a ‘What if?’.
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be? Why?
That’s a hard one. I’d say Portugal. It’s a beautiful country and I have family members who moved there as American ex-pats and have nothing but good things to say about their new home.
Do you use real or fictional locations in your stories? What kind of research do you do for the setting?
I use a combination of real and fictional places in my stories. I like to place them in proximity to real cities, but the neighborhoods/subdivisions are fictional to allow for flexibility without having to remain true to actual attractions or landmarks. I research similar areas, style of homes and socio-economic demographics when necessary.
CMCon Quickies:
Long weekend or extended stay vacation? Long weekend
Vampire or shifter? Shifter
Duke or cowboy? Cowboy
Beach or pool? Beach
Trains, planes, or automobiles? Planes
THANKS so much for stopping by. Now let’s learn more about Darie’s book:
Draft Pick Season III: Denzel by Darie McCoy
Denzel Reyes went from breaking records in professional football to breaking barriers in boardrooms and on camera as a sports analyst. What he can’t afford to break is the heart of the woman who stole his…Dominique Truman.
Dominique is no stranger to breaking barriers. A super star on the rise, she’s kicking down doors previously closed to actresses who look like her. Plus-sized. Dark skinned. With natural kinky-coily hair. She has no intention of becoming one of Denzel’s many conquests, but Mr. Reyes has other plans.
