What I’m Talking About:
A Border Force pilot sees something she isn’t supposed to see and a K9 Officer unearths a fresh body at a chilling abandoned orphanage putting them in the crosshairs of the same powerful enemy. Kendall Talbot has kept me on the edge of my seat through the whole Wolf Securities series and Risky Passion is the anticipated big finale.
Risky Passion is the fifth and final book in the Wolf Securities romantic suspense series which follows up on the equally pulse-pounding Alpha Tactical Ops series.
Border Force pilot, Tory has been a minor character throughout the series acting as the unit’s spy in the sky. When she spots a suspicious boat in a remote area along a smuggling coast and she goes in for a closer look, the crew bring her down and force her to survive against their weapons and all the natural deadly occupants of the marshy coastal area. Injured and terrified, she clings to life.
Jaxson, one of a set of triplet law enforcement types took the pitiful old child skeletons revealed at the old Angelsong Orphanage to heart. Onyx, his new K9 partner, is good at finding the bodies and while he’s carefully unearthing one, she alerts to another. This one is fresh and not a little child. Suddenly, he realizes that he’s placed himself in danger to the mysterious criminal mastermind “B” and her organization. But, then he learns the cute pilot he felt attracted to at the Christmas party has gone down nearby. Can he get to her in time?
Meanwhile, the criminal known as B is infuriated at the way Alpha Tactical Ops, Border Force, and some of the local police have thwarted her plans. Not only that, she feels a burning need to revenge herself on several of them who took out beloved members of her “found family” and they will pay before she closes out operations and retires. While she finalizes her revenge plans, things start to unravel when her people keep missing the loose strings that the Border Force pilot and K9 officer represent.
Risky Passion has all the survival, adventure, and suspense one could ask for in a finale. The heroes are up against a clever rival, informed as to their every move, and can’t figure out who their enemy is. I wasn’t even sure who would survive her lethal killing rage. The time with the criminal mastermind was fascinating and an emotional mixture because her past was horrific and shaped her to a large extent.
The romance was back seat, though the attraction was never far from the surface as Tory and Jaxson deked and dodged their way in and out of danger. I didn’t feel the strong connection of them together, but liked how the author didn’t try to force what was beginning with them into something deeper too quickly. The main focus was on wrapping up the series and then secondary on showing the potential for this romance pair. I hope that at some later date Jaxson’s brothers and the family missing person mystery get more books.
All in all, a sensational, sizzling action series that I can heartily recommend to those who like high-octane romantic suspense.

About the Book:
She fights for justice. He searches for answers.
But digging into a dark past might bury them both.
Spirited Border Force pilot, Tory Armstrong’s routine patrol becomes lethal when her surveillance captures a suspicious vessel and gunfire takes her down. Forced to crash-land in mangrove-choked waters—the same dark stretch where trafficking victims were recently discovered—she runs for her life.
At the derelict Angelsong Orphanage nearby, seasoned K9 Special Ops commander Jaxson Callahan and his German Shepherd, Onyx, abandon their grim discovery of hidden graves to rescue Tory. The treacherous swampland she crashed into harbors predators far deadlier than its crocodiles and snakes.
Racing against armed pursuers, Tory and Jaxson piece together decades of calculated brutality, and a chilling pattern emerges: every thread leads back to Angelsong, the orphanage shut down in the 1980’s amid whispers of unimaginable horrors. For Jaxson, whose teenage sister vanished fifteen years ago, the case becomes personal. But even more disturbing, every clue points to the mastermind being someone within their circle—someone with enough power to make witnesses vanish.
With enemies closing in and no idea who to trust, Tory joins forces with Jaxson and his triplet brothers—all leaders in law enforcement—to expose a conspiracy snaking through the highest ranks before they too are permanently silenced.
