September’s optional theme: Friend Squad

What I’m Talking About:

Now that Jack and Tess are engaged, they decide that they want their wedding right away, leaving only two months for planning. The book opens ten days before their wedding when Ruby, (the mayor and her aunt) finds out that the 500-year-old bargain with the fae granting Dead End the land for its incorporation, will expire on the wedding day, and the denizens must win five trials in order to save the town.

I selected A Dead End Wedding for this month’s TBR challenge theme of Friend Squad because the entire community must come together to save their beloved town. Each trial showcases a different talent, such as magic, strength, logic, and team work. The entire town supports each competitor, cheering and just showing up to help. They display unparalleled friendship and cooperation in the face of adversity.

Meanwhile, Jack and Tess are planning their wedding, and of course the entire town has suggestions and is part of the process. There are shenanigans; however, the over-the-top ridiculousness is a bit tamped down when compared to previous adventures, which I liked.

The Tiger Eye Mysteries is a silly adventure series with a slow burn romance which I continue to enjoy.

Note: The author includes a full-length ARC of a “soon-to-be-relaunched mystery” in the Kindle version of the book, which takes up nearly 70% of the purchase.

About the Book:

HERE COMES THE BRIDE … maybe?

When private investigator and tiger shapeshifter Jack Shepherd is about to marry the love of his life in Dead End, the quirkiest town in Florida, the last thing he wants to deal with is more games from a Fae queen.

But with Jack’s fiancee, pawnshop owner Tess Callahan, and all their family and friends, they have to succeed in a series of challenges to win the right to continue as a town—or abandon Dead End forever! The Dead Enders must prove themselves in Courage, Alliance, Wisdom, Compassion, and Beauty before the deadline … which just happens to be the date of the wedding.

Plus, there’s the little mystery of the swamp troll who came to town …

The wedding of the century may be on hold until Jack and Tess can navigate the challenges and win their happily ever after.

(Did we mention the bungee cord?)

Welcome to Dead End, where Here Comes the Bride can turn into a threat— for the bad guys. Jack and Tess are on the case, even on their wedding day, because sometimes it takes a Tiger’s Eye to see the truth.
