Welcome to #FitReaders2026!! Felicia and I are excited to co-host this fitness-oriented group. If you have any questions about #FitReaders, you can leave them in the comment section or email me at twimom227(at)gmail(dot)com.
Most of our support is done via our Facebook Group. I post my weekly check-ins on Fridays, as it helps me be accountable. You are welcome to do your own check-in posts, check in below, in the comments, or check in with the Facebook group – whatever works for you!
I check in here every Friday, but my fitness week is Monday – Sunday. So my check-ins are always about a week behind.
Last Week (January 19 – January 25, 2026):
Tuesday I had dinner with a friend that I usually see a few times a year. I missed her holiday gathering, so we made time to catch up. I was in the office on Wednesday per usual, but we had a 5 hour strategy planning event, with lunch. On Thursday, I left mid-morning to drive to my sister’s home in the Philadelphia area. Along the way, I picked up my mom from the airport, then we went to my sister’s home where we surprised my younger niece who is in high school. Friday we did some shopping and storm prep, played some games, and hung out. Saturday we drove to surprise my other niece who is a junior in college. She plays basketball for her school and we watched her game. I got to chat with her for a short while, but then I left about 30 minutes after the game. I changed my plans on the fly due to the huge snow storm that came in to the east coast on Sunday. I wanted to get home before the snow started. I was able to stop at the halfway mark and see my son at his college for about 45 minutes before I continued on my way, making it home at midnight. Sunday the snow started mid-morning and continued ALL DAY and ALL NIGHT into Monday. I was able to clear a path to my neighbors’ home so we could watch the AFC Championship game and cheer on the Patriots. It is such a shocker that they won and are going to the Super Bowl after such lousy seasons the past several years.
Weight: I was up 1.3 pounds from last week.
Goals: I was up in weight, again. I ate out several nights and consumed junk on the long car trips. I managed to get in at least 10 minutes of exercise every day except Saturday due to the 9 hours in the car and watching my niece play basketball. I continued on my 10-day alcohol-free challenge. I also did a daily devotional or meditation all days, except Saturday (see above). I am not going to get frustrated about my weight because I haven’t done anything to try and lose weight. January is about creating an exercise habit and goal that I will stick with until the weather improves.
- To move with purpose for a minimum of 10 minutes per day.
- To limit alcohol consumption.
- To read a daily meditation/devotional.
During 2026 I plan:
- To be mindful of a healthy relationship with food. I will do this by being thoughtful of my food choices when I grocery shop, work from home, and eat out.
- To move and be mindful. I will do this by finding ways to integrate movement and options for mental wellbeing into my life. I will set weekly or monthly goals to help me achieve a better fitness balance.
- To remain an active member of FitReaders and support my fellow members. I will do this by actively participating in the FitReader Facebook Group and continuing to share my journey with my weekly check-in on the blog.
