Welcome to #FitReaders2026!! Felicia and I are excited to co-host this fitness-oriented group. If you have any questions about #FitReaders, you can leave them in the comment section or email me at twimom227(at)gmail(dot)com.

Most of our support is done via our Facebook Group. I post my weekly check-ins on Fridays, as it helps me be accountable. You are welcome to do your own check-in posts, check in below, in the comments, or check in with the Facebook group – whatever works for you!

I check in here every Friday, but my fitness week is Monday – Sunday. So my check-ins are always about a week behind.

During 2026:

As I mentioned last week, I’ve gained about 25 pounds in the past 6 years. I have started every year by saying I want to lose the weight I gained the prior year, or at least maintain that new weight. And every year, I’ve failed. So for 2026, I’m not going to have a goal specific to my weight. That doesn’t mean I won’t make efforts to lose a few pounds (I really need to), but I am not going to set a goal to hit a certain weight. I want to explore new ways to move and options for mental health. I’m not sure what that will look like yet, but I will broadly state that I want to keep moving and find better ways to integrate movement and mindfulness into my routine. And as always, I plan to support my fellow FitReaders.

  • To be mindful of a healthy relationship with food. I will do this by being thoughtful of my food choices when I grocery shop, work from home, and eat out.
  • To move and be mindful. I will do this by finding ways to integrate movement and options for mental wellbeing into my life. I will set weekly or monthly goals to help me achieve a better fitness balance.
  • To remain an active member of FitReaders and support my fellow members. I will do this by actively participating in the FitReader Facebook Group and continuing to share my journey with my weekly check-in on the blog.

Goals for January:

  • To move with purpose for a minimum of 10 minutes per day.
  • To limit alcohol consumption.
  • To read a daily meditation/devotional.

Last Week (December 29, 2025 – January 5, 2026):

Last week was the wonderful time that falls between Christmas and the New Year, when we have time off work and veg a lot. Monday I had a massage! I got my hair colored and cut on Tuesday. I also volunteered at the local soup kitchen. Wednesday was New Year’s Eve. In the morning, my husband and I took the kids shopping to use some of the gift cards we received for Christmas. That evening, we had a few friends over to ring in the new year. My son and daughter both worked on Jan. 1st, so my husband and I watched football and relaxed. Saturday, my daughter and I helped a friend move to an apartment in Boston. We also went out to dinner. Sunday was church, Pats football, and the Read Along chat, which I finally was able to attend!

Weight: Starting another year. I was up 0.2 pounds from last week.

Goals: I started my new goals on January 1st. I did move at least 10 minutes each day (Jan 1-5), including Tai Chi, walking, and stretching. I didn’t decide to try and limit alcohol until after I went out to dinner on Saturday, so that goal didn’t really pertain to last week. I was able to take some time to read daily meditations most days.
