Welcome to #FitReaders2026!! Felicia and I are excited to co-host this fitness-oriented group. If you have any questions about #FitReaders, you can leave them in the comment section or email me at twimom227(at)gmail(dot)com.
Most of our support is done via our Facebook Group. I post my weekly check-ins on Fridays, as it helps me be accountable. You are welcome to do your own check-in posts, check in below, in the comments, or check in with the Facebook group – whatever works for you!
I check in here every Friday, but my fitness week is Monday – Sunday. So my check-ins are always about a week behind.
Last Week (April 13 – April 19, 2026):
The beginning of my week was pretty normal: Tai Chi, work, OT for my elbow/shoulder. Wednesday, I had a big work meeting that went really well. Thursday morning I was up by 3:00AM and caught a 6:30AM flight out of Boston. I flew to Chicago, where I met my sister and brother-in-law. We drove to the town he grew up in, about 2.5 hours from the airport. We were there for his mother’s visitation and funeral service. It was a long couple of days, and I returned home on a flight that landed at 11:30PM on Friday. Saturday, I volunteered to table at an art event for a non-profit that I support. Then I crashed on the couch for the rest of the day. On Sunday, my friend and I took our daughters to see the Beauty and the Beast musical and out to dinner in Boston. It was a very busy week.
My Health: I didn’t do much research regarding pre-diabetes with my busy schedule. I probably won’t have time until after I return from ApollyCon (next week).
If you have any good resources for living with pre-diabetes or menu planning tools, please leave links in the comments.
Weight: I was back up 1.4 pounds last week.
Goals: I started the week doing well, but between my travel and busy schedule, I didn’t use my tracking to keep my diet in check nor limiting my sugar and carbs. I only exercised Monday and Tuesday. I went over my carb limit three days and over my sugar limit five days. I am getting more protein into my diet, though. I limited alcohol to two days, but I had a pretty sugary drink one of the days. I mostly kept up with my daily devotionals. I will follow up with my PCP during the last week of the month. Unfortunately, I have to change providers as mine is no longer in-network.
I have modified my goals slightly:
- To move with purpose for a minimum of 10 minutes every day.
- To track food intake to include carbs, sugars, and proteins every day.
- To limit alcohol consumption.
- To read a daily meditation/devotional.
- To follow up with my PCP.
During 2026 I plan:
- To be mindful of a healthy relationship with food. I will do this by being thoughtful of my food choices when I grocery shop, work from home, and eat out.
- To move and be mindful. I will do this by finding ways to integrate movement and options for mental wellbeing into my life. I will set weekly or monthly goals to help me achieve a better fitness balance.
- To remain an active member of FitReaders and support my fellow members. I will do this by actively participating in the FitReader Facebook Group and continuing to share my journey with my weekly check-in on the blog.
