Welcome to #FitReaders2026!! Felicia and I are excited to co-host this fitness-oriented group. If you have any questions about #FitReaders, you can leave them in the comment section or email me at twimom227(at)gmail(dot)com.
Most of our support is done via our Facebook Group. I post my weekly check-ins on Fridays, as it helps me be accountable. You are welcome to do your own check-in posts, check in below, in the comments, or check in with the Facebook group – whatever works for you!
I check in here every Friday, but my fitness week is Monday – Sunday. So my check-ins are always about a week behind.
Last Week (April 20 – April 26, 2026):

Happy May! Last week was a whirlwind. The beginning of my week was pretty normal: Tai Chi, work, OT for my elbow/shoulder. But then Wednesday, I boarded a plane and flew to Washington DC for ApollyCon 2026. I was not participating as an attendee; instead I (along with Liza) was there to assist Jennifer Estep with her panels and book signings. I had never been to the con before and it is huge! I had such a great time chatting with some of the authors I’ve gotten to know over the past 15+ years and meeting some new reader/book friends. I was there until Sunday morning, when I flew back to Boston, and when my husband picked me up, we drove down to my son’s college where we attended mass and observed his confirmation into the Catholic church. (He was confirmed previously in the United Methodist church at home.) We finished the evening with an amazing dinner out, visiting with my in-laws and two of my son’s good friends.
My Health: I didn’t do anything last week, due to the travel. However, I have put in a request to my PCP for a referral to a dietitian/nutritionist.
If you have any good resources for living with pre-diabetes or menu planning tools, please leave links in the comments.
Weight: I was up 0.7 pounds last week.
Goals: After all of my travel prior to last week, and knowing I would be extremely busy with my travel and ApollyCon, I didn’t try to keep up with my goals. I did great the two days I was home (Monday, Tuesday), but I didn’t track food or exercise from Wednesday – Sunday. That said, I moved a LOT while I was gone, enough that I closed all three of my Apple Fitness Rings every day last week. I tried to make good choices when I came to sweets/sugar, but I did have a drink most days.
I have modified my goals slightly:
- To move with purpose for a minimum of 20 minutes for 4 days during the week.
- To track food intake to include carbs, sugars, and proteins every day.
- To limit alcohol consumption.
- To read a daily meditation/devotional.
- To follow up with my PCP.
During 2026 I plan:
- To be mindful of a healthy relationship with food. I will do this by being thoughtful of my food choices when I grocery shop, work from home, and eat out.
- To move and be mindful. I will do this by finding ways to integrate movement and options for mental wellbeing into my life. I will set weekly or monthly goals to help me achieve a better fitness balance.
- To remain an active member of FitReaders and support my fellow members. I will do this by actively participating in the FitReader Facebook Group and continuing to share my journey with my weekly check-in on the blog.
