Welcome to #FitReaders2026!! Felicia and I are excited to co-host this fitness-oriented group. If you have any questions about #FitReaders, you can leave them in the comment section or email me at twimom227(at)gmail(dot)com.

Most of our support is done via our Facebook Group. I post my weekly check-ins on Fridays, as it helps me be accountable. You are welcome to do your own check-in posts, check in below, in the comments, or check in with the Facebook group – whatever works for you!

I check in here every Friday, but my fitness week is Monday – Sunday. So my check-ins are always about a week behind.

Last Week (May 4 – May 10, 2026):

I was able to get back to Tai Chi on Monday. I also had OT for my elbow. That evening I was able to sit outside and visit with the neighborhood mamas. We discussed a potential girls trip for next year. On Wednesday I had the initial consultation with a dietician, more on that below. Thursday was the follow up with my orthopedic doctor. My elbow has gotten a little better, but I’m still in pain, so he gave me a cortisone injection. WOW! I was feeling better later that night. Friday I moved my daughter home from college. It was a long day, but it’s great to have her home. Saturday, I got my hair done and did a lot of catching up around the house. Sunday was Mother’s Day. After church we went to the neighbors’ yard for our annual mom’s brunch. It was warm enough to eat outside! Then we went over to my in-laws to celebrate with them as well. We had a bonus celebration for my brother-in-law and partner who got engaged last week!

My Health: I had a great conversation with a nutritionist last week. We talked about everything from food and exercise to lifestyle and history. Since I’ve been tracking my food for a while now, she was able to analyze what I’ve been eating and give me some suggested targets for maximum calories (per day but averaged over one week), maximum carbs, and target fiber per day. I have an app that allows my dietician to review my food logging and send me information, and I can ask questions, etc. The program allows for bi-weekly check-in appointments to help keep me accountable. I have been working on swapping high sugar and high carb snacks with high fiber ones. I’ve worked on reducing carbs by having halves – like a deconstructed chicken salad sandwich with only one slice of bread, having only a half bagel, etc. I’ve done really well one week in. There are a lot of challenges coming soon with my son’s graduation, my folks visiting, and traveling to my sister’s for my niece’s graduation.

Weight: I lost 3.2 pounds last week.

Goals: I was able to walk three days last week and I did Tai Chi, so I hit my goal of moving for four days. I tracked my food each day. I’m not hitting my goal numbers perfectly, but I’m doing really well. I only had one drink – mimosa on Mother’s Day. I was better about my daily devotionals but I’m still not hitting it every day, which impacts my overall mental and emotional wellbeing.

My goals for the week:

  • To move with purpose for a minimum of 20 minutes for 4 days during the week.
  • To track food intake to include carbs, sugars, and proteins every day.
  • To limit alcohol consumption.
  • To read a daily meditation/devotional.

During 2026 I plan:

  • To be mindful of a healthy relationship with food. I will do this by being thoughtful of my food choices when I grocery shop, work from home, and eat out.
  • To move and be mindful. I will do this by finding ways to integrate movement and options for mental wellbeing into my life. I will set weekly or monthly goals to help me achieve a better fitness balance.
  • To remain an active member of FitReaders and support my fellow members. I will do this by actively participating in the FitReader Facebook Group and continuing to share my journey with my weekly check-in on the blog.
