Welcome to #FitReaders2026!! Felicia and I are excited to co-host this fitness-oriented group. If you have any questions about #FitReaders, you can leave them in the comment section or email me at twimom227(at)gmail(dot)com.

Most of our support is done via our Facebook Group. I post my weekly check-ins on Fridays, as it helps me be accountable. You are welcome to do your own check-in posts, check in below, in the comments, or check in with the Facebook group – whatever works for you!

I check in here every Friday, but my fitness week is Monday – Sunday. So my check-ins are always about a week behind.

Last Week (May 11 – May 17, 2026):

Monday I had Tai Chi and OT, plus an annual check up. Tuesday I had an event for work at lunch. Wednesday I was in the office and then had an evening meeting. After an early morning Zoom on Thursday, my daughter and I got mani/pedis. My folks arrived in time for dinner. Friday morning I had a follow up with my dietician and then we packed the car and drove to our VRBO rental near my son’s school in southern Connecticut. My in-laws and my sister’s family met us there for dinner. (We all stayed at the very large home.) My son stopped by too, and we played cards and laughed a lot! Saturday was my son’s nursing pinning ceremony, which is the nursing school graduation. It was followed by a baccalaureate mass. Then we had a graduation party at our rental, with two other graduates and their families. Sunday was commencement. It was an amazing weekend, full of really big emotions. I can’t believe my son has graduated college! It hit me the most when one of the nursing professors told the class that she now calls them her colleagues.

My Health: I had a follow up with the dietician. We talked about adding more fiber to my diet, which I haven’t been very successful with. But I did make some better choices even while away and celebrating. I tracked food all but the party on Saturday. I only had wine on Friday and Saturday during the celebration dinners.

Weight: I lost 0.3 pounds last week.

Goals: Even though I was out of my routine, I made much better choices than I would have in the recent past. I only exercised on two days, but I did keep busy and move a lot while I was gone. As I mentioned, I tracked food all but one afternoon, and only had drinks on two days. I did not keep up with my devotionals. Even though I didn’t do to well with my goals on paper, I make progress.

My goals for the week:

  • To move with purpose for a minimum of 20 minutes for 4 days during the week.
  • To track food intake to include carbs, sugars, and proteins every day.
  • To limit alcohol consumption.
  • To read a daily meditation/devotional.

During 2026 I plan:

  • To be mindful of a healthy relationship with food. I will do this by being thoughtful of my food choices when I grocery shop, work from home, and eat out.
  • To move and be mindful. I will do this by finding ways to integrate movement and options for mental wellbeing into my life. I will set weekly or monthly goals to help me achieve a better fitness balance.
  • To remain an active member of FitReaders and support my fellow members. I will do this by actively participating in the FitReader Facebook Group and continuing to share my journey with my weekly check-in on the blog.
