Welcome to #FitReaders2026!! Felicia and I are excited to co-host this fitness-oriented group. If you have any questions about #FitReaders, you can leave them in the comment section or email me at twimom227(at)gmail(dot)com.

Most of our support is done via our Facebook Group. I post my weekly check-ins on Fridays, as it helps me be accountable. You are welcome to do your own check-in posts, check in below, in the comments, or check in with the Facebook group – whatever works for you!

I check in here every Friday, but my fitness week is Monday – Sunday. So my check-ins are always about a week behind.

Last Week (May 18 – May 24, 2026):

a man and woman holding lobsters
Mom and Dad enjoy some New England weather and lobsters!

The week started by helping my son pack up his dorm. We brought home a lot of his stuff, but he stayed in CT. On the way back home from his graduation weekend, we took my parents to see my daughter’s school as well. It made for a long day of driving, but it was fun. My parents were here all week, so we had lots of meal times and a shopping day together. I worked from home Tuesday-Thursday, and half a day in the office Friday. On Thursday, we all had dinner at my in-laws. Due to predicted rain on Sunday, we held the neighborhood lobster bake on Saturday. It was chilly, but no rain. My folks had fun joining in with the neighbors. Sunday we had burgers at my in-laws, inside due to the rain. My folks and my daughter will head to my sister’s home (in PA) early Monday morning.

My Health: Knowing it was going to be a busy week with lots of food-related events, my goal was to track everything and think about what I was eating, if I was hungry, etc. I tracked all of my food and macros. My weekly averages:

Calories: 2,148 (goal 1,600); Carbs: 202g (goal under 115g); Fiber: 15.6g (goal over 22g);  Protein: 85.9g (goal 80g)

So I was WAY over my calories and carbs. I did okay with fiber and did great getting in the protein.

Weight: I lost 0.4 pounds last week.

Goals: I tracked my food every day and despite being over my calorie intake, I did make better choices than I would have even a few weeks ago. I had cucumbers with hummus instead of crackers and cheese. I put a few chips on my plate rather than hovering over the chips and dip. Little things like that do make a difference. Where I am not doing well is exercising. I am keeping very busy, so I am still closing my Apple Rings, which does offset a lot of the extra food I consumed. I’m giving myself until June 1, when I will be done with travel for a while and can focus on my exercise. Once again, I limited my alcohol to two days. Speaking of alcohol, I bought some Mom Water, which is zero carbs, all natural. It’s not great tasting, but it’s not bad and easy to sip with my burger. I was hit and miss with the devotionals, which again, I need for my mental health.

My goals for the week:

  • To move with purpose for a minimum of 20 minutes for 4 days during the week.
  • To track food intake to include carbs, sugars, and proteins every day.
  • To limit alcohol consumption.
  • To read a daily meditation/devotional.

During 2026 I plan:

  • To be mindful of a healthy relationship with food. I will do this by being thoughtful of my food choices when I grocery shop, work from home, and eat out.
  • To move and be mindful. I will do this by finding ways to integrate movement and options for mental wellbeing into my life. I will set weekly or monthly goals to help me achieve a better fitness balance.
  • To remain an active member of FitReaders and support my fellow members. I will do this by actively participating in the FitReader Facebook Group and continuing to share my journey with my weekly check-in on the blog.
