Welcome to #FitReaders2026!! Felicia and I are excited to co-host this fitness-oriented group. If you have any questions about #FitReaders, you can leave them in the comment section or email me at twimom227(at)gmail(dot)com.

Most of our support is done via our Facebook Group. I post my weekly check-ins on Fridays, as it helps me be accountable. You are welcome to do your own check-in posts, check in below, in the comments, or check in with the Facebook group – whatever works for you!

I check in here every Friday, but my fitness week is Monday – Sunday. So my check-ins are always about a week behind.

Last Week (June 1 – June 7, 2026):

View of the shore one morning last week. I got out early for a walk that day.

Finally, a week at home! I was back at Tai Chi on Monday. I had my regular work schedule during the week. I went out to breakfast, followed by a manicure, with my friend on Thursday. I had a check in with my dietician on Friday morning and ended up taking half a day off, because the weather was so nice. I did some chores, but then my daughter and I, along with our friends, sat outside and read for about an hour. Then we went out to dinner and watched a movie back at home. The weather wasn’t great on Saturday, so my daughter and I ran some errands. At church on Sunday, my son gave a presentation on a campus ministry immersion trip he participated with back in January. The service was followed by a farewell luncheon for our retiring pastor.

Good news – the insurance for the man who hit us on our trip home reached out. After getting both parties’ accounts, his insurance accepted liability and will pay our claim. We got an estimate and scheduled the repairs – which won’t happen until July. No worries. Our van is drivable and the insurance will pay for a rental while it’s in the shop.

My Health:

I managed to track everything, which was my goal. I did have to go back a couple days later, so I may have missed a few items, but it was good to see how much I consumed. My weekly averages:

Calories: 1,731 (goal 1,600); Carbs: 166g (goal under 115g); Fiber: 23.6g (goal over 22g);  Protein: 81.9g (goal 80g)

Weight: I was down 1.7 pounds last week. I’ve lost 5 pounds since I started on my plan with the dietician.

I had a very good “routine” week. It was nice to be home and fixing my own meals. I went out once and was able to make better decisions. I am thinking about meals and food in a positive way – enjoying what I’m eating and not what I’m “missing out” on. I think about how I’ll feel after eating – do I really need the second cookie – will I feel full, gross, etc. Am I really hungry or just board? I also walked every day last week, which helped boost the weight loss. I have noticed I’m feeling it in my joints and hips, so I need to make sure I’m stretching as well. I only had one drink last week and did some sort of devotional/mediation most, if not all days. I’m going to up my exercise goal to 5 days/week (from 4) for this week.

My goals for the week:

  • To move with purpose for a minimum of 20 minutes for 5 days during the week.
  • To track food intake to include carbs, sugars, and proteins every day.
  • To limit alcohol consumption.
  • To read a daily meditation/devotional.

During 2026 I plan:

  • To be mindful of a healthy relationship with food. I will do this by being thoughtful of my food choices when I grocery shop, work from home, and eat out.
  • To move and be mindful. I will do this by finding ways to integrate movement and options for mental wellbeing into my life. I will set weekly or monthly goals to help me achieve a better fitness balance.
  • To remain an active member of FitReaders and support my fellow members. I will do this by actively participating in the FitReader Facebook Group and continuing to share my journey with my weekly check-in on the blog.
