Welcome to #FitReaders2026!! Felicia and I are excited to co-host this fitness-oriented group. If you have any questions about #FitReaders, you can leave them in the comment section or email me at twimom227(at)gmail(dot)com.
Most of our support is done via our Facebook Group. I post my weekly check-ins on Fridays, as it helps me be accountable. You are welcome to do your own check-in posts, check in below, in the comments, or check in with the Facebook group – whatever works for you!
I check in here every Friday, but my fitness week is Monday – Sunday. So my check-ins are always about a week behind.
Last Week (June 15 – June 21, 2026):

The week kicked off with my usual Tai Chi and prayer group, plus I had a committee meeting at church Monday night. Tuesday and Wednesday were typical work days; however, on Wednesday, I had my final project meeting at work (for the planning cycle). We had a catered lunch. On Thursday I got my hair colored and cut. Our office was closed Friday. I had a check in with my nutritionist in the morning and then volunteered to help set up for PRIDE Day (which was Saturday) in a neighboring city. Saturday I had to pick up my daughter from her friends’ home about 1.25 hours away. Then my husband and I went out to dinner with friends. Sunday morning was church and then we celebrated Father’s Day and my MIL’s birthday at my in-laws. The whole family was together.
My Health:
I feel good about last week. My average calories are up again, so I need to watch that. I made some good choices at the family dinner on Sunday, staying away mostly from the junk, eating fruit as an app, keeping portions down. On Saturday, I did pretty good going out to dinner, but ended up having two servings of dessert. It was so light and fruity, I made the mistake of eating when I was full and assuming it was low calorie. Wednesday was high because of work event. I made decent choices for lunch, but ended up eating a lot of chips and then had a pretty large dinner. Then my daughter surprised me with a special dessert. So that was not a “making good decisions” day.
With that I was down 0.5 pounds. I did a little better with my exercise – getting in four days last week. I think even though I’m eating more calories these past couple weeks, it’s still less than I was eating before and I’m eating “better quality” foods.
My daily averages for last week:
Calories: 1,911 (goal 1,600); Carbs: 171g (goal under 115g); Fiber: 21.0g (goal over 22g); Protein: 78.7g (goal 80g)
Weight: I was down 0.5 pounds last week.
I had up’d my goal for movement from 4 to 5 days last week, but I only did four days, so I fell short with that goal. I did pretty well with my other goals, so I’m going to keep my same goals this week.
My goals for the week:
- To move with purpose for a minimum of 20 minutes for 5 days during the week.
- To track food intake to include carbs, sugars, and proteins every day.
- To limit alcohol consumption.
- To read a daily meditation/devotional.
During 2026 I plan:
- To be mindful of a healthy relationship with food. I will do this by being thoughtful of my food choices when I grocery shop, work from home, and eat out.
- To move and be mindful. I will do this by finding ways to integrate movement and options for mental wellbeing into my life. I will set weekly or monthly goals to help me achieve a better fitness balance.
- To remain an active member of FitReaders and support my fellow members. I will do this by actively participating in the FitReader Facebook Group and continuing to share my journey with my weekly check-in on the blog.
