I check in here every Friday, but my fitness week is Monday – Sunday. So my check-ins are always about a week behind.

Last Week (May 25 – May 31, 2026):

Visiting Villanova University

Monday was Memorial Day. My parents left with my daughter to drive to the Philly area in preparation of my niece’s high school graduation. Since we celebrated on Saturday and Sunday, Monday was a very low-key day. Tuesday was my only work day last week, and it was busy with meetings, followed by OT for my elbow. I’m doing a lot better since the cortisone shot, so we are going to put the OT on hold for now. My husband, son, and I packed up and headed to Philly early (5:00AM) on Wednesday. My husband had work calls he needed to be on wifi for, so we needed to get down there before those meetings. We had a big family dinner out to celebrate her upcoming graduation. Then on Thursday evening was her graduation. After we went back to my sister’s for dinner and hanging out. Friday, we visited Villanova, which is where my niece will be attending school next year. That evening we relaxed. On Saturday, we packed up and headed home. Unfortunately, we were rear-ended on the NJ turnpike. We were able to drive back home, but there was considerable damage to our van. I called in the claim, but I have to wait a few days for the insurance to call me back. Sunday, I unpacked and picked up. We also watched some movies and relaxed. I was able to jump on the Read-Along chat, too!

My Health:

I managed to track everything, which was my goal. I did have to go back a couple days later, so I may have missed a few items, but it was good to see how much I consumed. My weekly averages:

Calories: 2,622 (goal 1,600); Carbs: 240g (goal under 115g); Fiber: 27g (goal over 22g);  Protein: 116g (goal 80g)

All of the macros are high because my caloric intake was so high.

Weight: I gained 0.5 pounds last week, but I was down 3.4 pounds for the month of May.

Goals: I tracked my food every day and despite being over my calorie intake, I did make better choices than I would have even a few weeks ago. I did eat a lot, but there were high-fiber foods and more protein than there would have been in the past. I still didn’t get in much exercise, but I walked once with my sister and again on Sunday after we were home. My focus this coming week will be to move more. I did drink with the three meals celebrating my niece. I was hit and miss with the devotionals, which again, I need for my mental health.

My goals for the week:

  • To move with purpose for a minimum of 20 minutes for 4 days during the week.
  • To track food intake to include carbs, sugars, and proteins every day.
  • To limit alcohol consumption.
  • To read a daily meditation/devotional.

During 2026 I plan:

  • To be mindful of a healthy relationship with food. I will do this by being thoughtful of my food choices when I grocery shop, work from home, and eat out.
  • To move and be mindful. I will do this by finding ways to integrate movement and options for mental wellbeing into my life. I will set weekly or monthly goals to help me achieve a better fitness balance.
  • To remain an active member of FitReaders and support my fellow members. I will do this by actively participating in the FitReader Facebook Group and continuing to share my journey with my weekly check-in on the blog.
