June 30th: Mid-Year Check-In: What books have you loved so far in 2026?
I’ve read some great books so far this year. My favorite book for the first half of 2026 is This Kingdom Will Not Kill Me by Ilona Andrews (March 31, 2026, Tor Publishing). It is a massive, complex story, complete will multiple layers, a couple dozen characters, and numerous side stories. The authors have developed a fascinating world filled with awe and wonder. The characters are rich in backstory, and brought to life through action and emotion. The plot is complex, but the storytelling is seamless. Each intricate detail is created with purpose and shared with intent. I felt like I was transported into Kair Toren along side Maggie.
Other great reads from the first half of the year include (click title for my review):
- A Ghastly Catastrophe by Deanna Raybourn
- A Murderous Business by Cathy Pegau
- The Name Game by Beth O’Leary
- Apparently, Sir Cameron Needs to Die by Greer Stothers
- The Tapestry of Fate by Shannon Chakraborty
