Welcome to #FitReaders2026!! Felicia and I are excited to co-host this fitness-oriented group. If you have any questions about #FitReaders, you can leave them in the comment section or email me at twimom227(at)gmail(dot)com.

Most of our support is done via our Facebook Group. I post my weekly check-ins on Fridays, as it helps me be accountable. You are welcome to do your own check-in posts, check in below, in the comments, or check in with the Facebook group – whatever works for you!

I check in here every Friday, but my fitness week is Monday – Sunday. So my check-ins are always about a week behind.

Last Week (July 13 – July 19, 2026):

We walked all over campus and then went out to lunch. Tuesday I worked from home. On Wednesday I had lunch with an old friend, and then went out to dinner with some former coworkers on Thursday. Friday morning I walked 3 miles with a friend and then a group of us went whale watching and out to dinner. We had such a beautiful day and got to see a humpback slapping its pectoral fins, which is an uncommon behavior to witness. It was a slow, rainy Saturday. Then on Sunday after church, I went to Boston for the final show of the Broadway in Boston season. It was The Great Gatsby. We went to dinner before the show.

My Health:

photo of a whale tale in the oceanLooking back at the week, I did okay, but not as good as I wanted to post-vacation. My numbers all moved in the right direction, but they weren’t significantly different than the prior week. My goals were to increase fiber and high-fiber carbs… my daily average for fiber was up 2.5 grams. However, my daily calorie intake averaged over 2,000/day, with four big calorie days. I’m not doing a good job when I’m away from home or going out to eat. I was down 0.3 lbs, so I’ll take that as a win. I exercised/walked six days, so that is a highlight from last week.

My goals for the coming week: continue to work on increasing fiber, focus on staying near 1,600 calories on the days I’m home, and try to plan ahead/stick with the plan for days I’m away from home.

My daily averages for last week:

Calories: 2,009 (goal 1,600); Carbs: 189.3g (goal under 115g); Fiber: 20.0g (goal over 22g);  Protein: 88.6g (goal 80g)

Weight: I lost 0.3 pounds last week.

My goals for this week:

  • To move with purpose for a minimum of 20 minutes for 5 days during the week.
  • To track food intake to include carbs, sugars, and proteins every day.
  • To limit alcohol consumption.
  • To read a daily meditation/devotional.

During 2026 I plan:

  • To be mindful of a healthy relationship with food. I will do this by being thoughtful of my food choices when I grocery shop, work from home, and eat out.
  • To move and be mindful. I will do this by finding ways to integrate movement and options for mental wellbeing into my life. I will set weekly or monthly goals to help me achieve a better fitness balance.
  • To remain an active member of FitReaders and support my fellow members. I will do this by actively participating in the FitReader Facebook Group and continuing to share my journey with my weekly check-in on the blog.
