Welcome to #FitReaders2026!! Felicia and I are excited to co-host this fitness-oriented group. If you have any questions about #FitReaders, you can leave them in the comment section or email me at twimom227(at)gmail(dot)com.

Most of our support is done via our Facebook Group. I post my weekly check-ins on Fridays, as it helps me be accountable. You are welcome to do your own check-in posts, check in below, in the comments, or check in with the Facebook group – whatever works for you!

I check in here every Friday, but my fitness week is Monday – Sunday. So my check-ins are always about a week behind.

Last Week (August 17 – August 23, 2026):

Flowers from my husband for our anniversary.

Last week was pretty busy. It was my daughter’s final week home for the summer, too. Monday I had a few volunteer commitments with my church. Tuesday, I traveled with two friends to western Massachusetts to see Brandi Carlisle in concert at a lovely outdoor venue, Tanglewood. We picnicked on the lawn and enjoyed wonderful music. Because it was about a three plus hour drive back home, we stayed the night in a hotel before returning home on Wednesday. On Thursday and Friday I ran errands with my daughter and she packed up her stuff. Saturday was my 28th wedding anniversary. My husband and I enjoyed a delicious breakfast out. That night I grilled steaks (my daughter’s favorite) and we had a family dinner. We also enjoyed watching a movie. Sunday we drove two cars down to my daughter’s college to move her into her new dorm. My husband returned home while I spent the day helping her unpack, organize, and hit the grocery store.

My Health:

While it wasn’t my best week, it wasn’t the worst. And with everything going on, I did okay. All my numbers were up. I had several “high calorie” days, especially Tuesday, which was the day I went to the concert. We were able to bring in our own food and drinks, which was good, but also bad because I kept drinking and snacking the entire time! Even though I was home the rest of the week, we had bigger meals, covering all of my daughter’s favorites, before moving her back to college this past Sunday. I also didn’t exercise really at all last week. No yoga. Very little walking. Part of it was the weather and part a busy schedule, but I know I could have gotten in some movement had a tried just a little bit. But I’m not beating myself up. I am still making good choices and know today starts a new week.

My daily averages for last week:

Calories: 2,056 (goal 1,600); Carbs: 210.7g (goal under 115g); Fiber: 14.7g (goal over 22g);  Protein: 78.7g (goal 80g)

Weight: I stayed the same weight last week.

My goals for this week:

  • To move with purpose for a minimum of 20 minutes for 5 days during the week.
  • To track food intake to include carbs, sugars, and proteins every day.
  • To limit alcohol consumption.
  • To read a daily meditation/devotional.

During 2026 I plan:

  • To be mindful of a healthy relationship with food. I will do this by being thoughtful of my food choices when I grocery shop, work from home, and eat out.
  • To move and be mindful. I will do this by finding ways to integrate movement and options for mental wellbeing into my life. I will set weekly or monthly goals to help me achieve a better fitness balance.
  • To remain an active member of FitReaders and support my fellow members. I will do this by actively participating in the FitReader Facebook Group and continuing to share my journey with my weekly check-in on the blog.
