Welcome to #FitReaders2026!! Felicia and I are excited to co-host this fitness-oriented group. If you have any questions about #FitReaders, you can leave them in the comment section or email me at twimom227(at)gmail(dot)com.
Most of our support is done via our Facebook Group. I post my weekly check-ins on Fridays, as it helps me be accountable. You are welcome to do your own check-in posts, check in below, in the comments, or check in with the Facebook group – whatever works for you!
I check in here every Friday, but my fitness week is Monday – Sunday. So my check-ins are always about a week behind.
Last Week (July 27 – August 2, 2026):

It was a pretty quiet week again. I worked from home on Tuesday, had a bible study on Wednesday evening, and took one of my cats (Coco) to the vet on Thursday. She’s been coughing. It looks like maybe she has a feline version of bronchitis. I also went to a short-film film festival on Thursday. There were some really good movies, and I love supporting creative people! Friday afternoon we went to a luncheon for a friend visiting from out of the country. On Saturday, I checked out a farmer’s market in a neighboring city with friends, and then we went out to breakfast and shopping. Finally, I went to see the new Spider-Man with my daughter on Sunday evening. We both really enjoyed it.
My Health:
Wow! Last week was probably my “best” week since I started with my dietician. My calorie average was its lowest, and while still averaging above 1,600, there was only one high calorie day. The side effect of fewer calories means that all of my macro numbers also decreased. This is good with respect to carbs, but not so good with respect to fiber and protein. This is usually because I sacrifice a “good” meal for a “junky” meal. For example, I was at the movies two nights last week, and knowing I’d want popcorn, I ate less calories for dinner, choosing the junk food over the healthy food in order to stay within my caloric budget. Still, the lower caloric intake coupled with exercise resulted in a nearly 3 lb weight loss. I feel like I got a “win” last week, which gives me some positive feedback and momentum for the coming week. Now I need to try and keep the calories down without sacrificing the important macros.
My goal for the coming week: continue to focus on staying near 1,600 calories on the days I’m home and try to plan ahead/stick with the plan for days I’m away from home.
My daily averages for last week:
Calories: 1,727 (goal 1,600); Carbs: 163.4g (goal under 115g); Fiber: 19.0g (goal over 22g); Protein: 82.1g (goal 80g)
Weight: I lost 2.9 pounds last week.
My goals for this week:
- To move with purpose for a minimum of 20 minutes for 5 days during the week.
- To track food intake to include carbs, sugars, and proteins every day.
- To limit alcohol consumption.
- To read a daily meditation/devotional.
During 2026 I plan:
- To be mindful of a healthy relationship with food. I will do this by being thoughtful of my food choices when I grocery shop, work from home, and eat out.
- To move and be mindful. I will do this by finding ways to integrate movement and options for mental wellbeing into my life. I will set weekly or monthly goals to help me achieve a better fitness balance.
- To remain an active member of FitReaders and support my fellow members. I will do this by actively participating in the FitReader Facebook Group and continuing to share my journey with my weekly check-in on the blog.
