Saving earth from a devouring alien horde wasn’t enough now she’s out to save the galaxy. Gail Koger’s entertaining, sassy, steamy sci-fi rom coms are like a hit of chocolate to a booklover’s imagination.
Cops in Space is part of the Coletti Warlord’s universe and is directly connected to the previous release, Undisciplined Catalyst as it continues the story of adventurous Lexi whose family and psychic secrets are out and she’s the new secret weapon for the allies protecting earth and other vulnerable worlds from infesting, devouring aliens. This book happens chronologically after the earliest book, Just My Luck.
Lexi is young, but has met her powerful Coletti warlord match in Kaelen. Because she is young, they are being kept as work partners only and Lexi frets against this as does Kaelen, but there are plenty distractions that come with their first space cop case- an Alliance space station has been hit and one of their premier fliers has been stolen. Naturally, its not as simple as heading to the scene to collect evidence. No, they are all caught up in the political maneuvering of the loose-knit and wary ally group forming between a few alien races who want to eliminate the threat to their worlds.
After giving several big scary aliens a healthy respect for humans, Lexi and the rest of the team head to the scene of the theft and she notices some oddities that make her follow a hunch as to who was responsible and where the flier went. The enemy is threatened and makes their move against her- and the alien creature menagerie she has adopted. Boy howdy, did that lead to quite the space romp.
Cops in Space was a follow-up, but also felt like a set up book- which it was- for the new spinoff series in the Coletti Warlords universe. I love the idea of a teenage psychic coming of age and solving cases in space that are part of fast and furious space adventures and exotic alien friends and enemies. The alien babies are adorable and loved how they glomb onto her. I’ve always been a fan of the little, rascally Tabor space spiders when they appear in the stories splat-splatting the baddies (and some annoying good guys) with their webs.
In summary, Cops in Space had me arrested and handcuffed to the story from start until finish. I was highly entertained at the light-hearted mayhem that ensues when a strong, sassy earth female gets the job done with a strong alpha alien at her side. Light sci-fi romance comedy lovers need to get aboard and ship out for Cops in Space and the rest of the Coletti Warlords world.
