What I’m Talking About:
Okay, I know this is a stretch for the theme of Freedom. However, I spent more time trying to find a book to fit the theme than I did actually reading the book! So I’m going with it. The MMC has a big secret… will he gain freedom from the secret if word gets out?
Torrential rain and dangerous storms strand Carley in the middle of nowhere. Luckily she stumbles upon A.J.’s cabin. Knowing he cannot turn away Carley, he gives her shelter and a change of clothes. A.J. likes to be alone and values his privacy, especially because he has a huge secret: he is a highly successful romance author.
Despite its short length, My Daring Texan is a complete story and fun escape. While the premise is a bit outrageous, Lacoy runs with the plot and adds humor to lighten the seriousness of the situation. I died laughing as Casey finds A.J.’s stash of books on poisoning and covering up crimes.
A.J. and Casey connect due to force-proximity and tense moments. The book is primarily A.J.’s story as he comes to realize that keeping his secrets may not be best. Casey helps him realize the benefits may outweigh the cons should he share the truth.
My Daring Texan is sweet, fun, and quick. I enjoyed the book in one day and look forward to finding out more about the rest of The Bradford Brothers.
