Welcome to #FitReaders2026!! Felicia and I are excited to co-host this fitness-oriented group. If you have any questions about #FitReaders, you can leave them in the comment section or email me at twimom227(at)gmail(dot)com.

Most of our support is done via our Facebook Group. I post my weekly check-ins on Fridays, as it helps me be accountable. You are welcome to do your own check-in posts, check in below, in the comments, or check in with the Facebook group – whatever works for you!

I check in here every Friday, but my fitness week is Monday – Sunday. So my check-ins are always about a week behind.

Last Week (August 31 – September 6, 2026):

Last week was the unofficial last week of summer. I was off from work all week, which was a nice treat before heading back this week. I used the week to get some things done, like oil change and tire rotation on my car, clean the house, and bloodwork done for my upcoming physical. On Friday, my husband and I went with our neighbors into Boston. We at dinner in the North End (Italian) and then watched their son play in his college soccer match. Saturday morning I went to a local book fair and met a few authors, picking up a book. That afternoon was the annual Corn Boil (big barbecue) at a friend’s home. I love going because there are folks I only see once a year now that our kids are grown and out of school. My husband and his dad went golfing Sunday and then we all met up at my in-laws for sandwiches and to catch up (they were traveling the previous week).

My Health:

I had another good week. My numbers stayed about the same as the previous week, with the exception that my carbs were up slightly while my protein and fiber correspondingly decreased. I ended up with a 0.5 weight loss. I exercised five days last week, including two yoga sessions. I did eat a lot on Saturday at an annual BBQ, but I didn’t eat to the point of feeling ill, which is an improvement from the past. I tried to pick things I wouldn’t normally have, like buffalo chicken dip with pita chips and all of the desserts that I don’t have at home. My bloodwork came back and my A1C decreased from 6.3 to 6.0. I will be seeing my PCP soon and will get her thoughts.

My daily averages for last week:

Calories: 1,891 (goal 1,600); Carbs: 189.4g (goal under 115g); Fiber: 18.9g (goal over 22g);  Protein: 83.3g (goal 80g)

Weight: I was down 0.5 pounds last week.

During 2026 I plan:

  • To be mindful of a healthy relationship with food. I will do this by being thoughtful of my food choices when I grocery shop, work from home, and eat out.
  • To move and be mindful. I will do this by finding ways to integrate movement and options for mental wellbeing into my life. I will set weekly or monthly goals to help me achieve a better fitness balance.
  • To remain an active member of FitReaders and support my fellow members. I will do this by actively participating in the FitReader Facebook Group and continuing to share my journey with my weekly check-in on the blog.
