Welcome to #FitReaders2026!! Felicia and I are excited to co-host this fitness-oriented group. If you have any questions about #FitReaders, you can leave them in the comment section or email me at twimom227(at)gmail(dot)com.

Most of our support is done via our Facebook Group. I post my weekly check-ins on Fridays, as it helps me be accountable. You are welcome to do your own check-in posts, check in below, in the comments, or check in with the Facebook group – whatever works for you!

I check in here every Friday, but my fitness week is Monday – Sunday. So my check-ins are always about a week behind.

Last Week (September 7 – September 13, 2026):

Last Monday was the Labor Day holiday. My friends and I went on a whale watch as a special treat. My neighbor’s daughter (like my second daughter) has a fall semester internship with a whale watch company, helping collect data and providing education on the boat. So we had to go and support her. It was a beautiful day. We saw eight humpbacks and a huge pod of dolphins. I was back to my normal work schedule on Tuesday. On Thursday I met with my PCP. As I mentioned, my A1C went from 6.3 to 6.0 which she said is a great decrease, especially without taking medication. She also noted I’m no longer in the “obese” category for my weight. We discussed a few other health issues that require some follow up, but overall, I’m doing great! That afternoon, I had a hair appointment – time for color and a blowout!

Friday was a long day because my daughter called sick and wanting to come home to veg and snuggle with the cats. I drove to get her, but with traffic it was 2.5 hours down and another 2+ hours back. She was able to rest all weekend and we watched some TV together. My husband and I drove her back to school on Sunday, stopping to have dinner together before saying goodbye.

This humpback peeked its head out of the water to say hello! Funny thing – the boat in the background is the same one I was on earlier this summer.

My Health:

Last week was a good lesson in the importance of macronutrients. I had a good week overall, but over the weekend, I ate a lot of empty calories, with little fiber, leaving my stomach a bit bloated. I stayed the same weight week over week, but I had actually lost some weight by Friday, putting it back on over the weekend. I am okay with this because I didn’t overeat and I maintained my forward momentum. I also made some great meal choices when going out to dinner. I got in four walks and one yoga session last week. For the upcoming week, I’m aiming for two yoga sessions, while adding back Tai Chi on Mondays. Overall, I’m good with my week.

I’ve also changed my “weekly average goal” for my calories, up’ing it to 1,800. The intent is to stay near 1,600 during the week, while allowing myself a bit more flexibility on the weekends or nights out. I’m not changing anything I’m doing, rather restating what I’ve been doing and is working.

My daily averages for last week:

Calories: 1,766 (goal 1,800); Carbs: 167,1 (goal under 115g); Fiber: 16.3g (goal over 22g);  Protein: 87.9g (goal 80g)

Weight: I stayed the same weight last week.

During 2026 I plan:

  • To be mindful of a healthy relationship with food. I will do this by being thoughtful of my food choices when I grocery shop, work from home, and eat out.
  • To move and be mindful. I will do this by finding ways to integrate movement and options for mental wellbeing into my life. I will set weekly or monthly goals to help me achieve a better fitness balance.
  • To remain an active member of FitReaders and support my fellow members. I will do this by actively participating in the FitReader Facebook Group and continuing to share my journey with my weekly check-in on the blog.
