Welcome to #FitReaders2026!! Felicia and I are excited to co-host this fitness-oriented group. If you have any questions about #FitReaders, you can leave them in the comment section or email me at twimom227(at)gmail(dot)com.
Most of our support is done via our Facebook Group. I post my weekly check-ins on Fridays, as it helps me be accountable. You are welcome to do your own check-in posts, check in below, in the comments, or check in with the Facebook group – whatever works for you!
I check in here every Friday, but my fitness week is Monday – Sunday. So my check-ins are always about a week behind.
Last Week (September 14 – September 20, 2026):

I started back with my weekly Tai Chi group on Monday and had an offsite meeting for work in the late afternoon. I was in the office during the day and started a new weekly Bible study in the evening on Wednesday. I had a wonderful time Friday evening, hanging out with a couple friends. One is an artist, and suggested an “art hang.” So we got takeout and went to her studio and played with some paint. We were back to Football Sunday gatherings last week, with a healthy menu! My husband left for a work trip and he’ll be gone for nearly two weeks, so it’s just me and the cats.
DISCUSSION OF BREAST HEALTH: I went for my annual mammogram last week. I have heterogeneously dense breast tissue and some family history, so my GYN suggested a breast MRI. Something showed up on the MRI that didn’t on the mammogram. While this is common, and the reason for the additional testing, it was a bit frightening. The hospital was able to fit me in for additional testing, including an ultrasound on Monday Sept. 21st. The doctor was able to determine that the node was benign and I will follow up with an ultrasound in six months. I share this story with you so that you look at your own health. If you are 40 or over, be sure to get your annual mammogram. Talk to your doctor about the type of tissue you have and if additional tests may be warranted. Advocate for yourself!
My Health:
I had another good week. While I’m not “perfect” each day, I’m making good choices and doing more for my health than I have in two years. I lost over 2 pounds last week after no changes for two weeks (so it all averages out). I’m down 15 pounds since I started with the dietician. While my goals are to lower my A1C and improve my overall health, losing some weight is a welcomed byproduct of my journey. If I’m being honest, I’d like to lose about 5 more pounds, which puts me in a much healthier range and gives me a little flexibility for celebrations, holidays, etc. I only worked out four days last week, including one day of tai chi and a short yoga session. My goal is five days.
I worked with my dietician on my caloric and macro targets. As I mentioned last week, we modified my caloric goal to 1,600 during the week, with a weekly daily average at or below 1,800 cals. This fits my lifestyle better and appears to be enough for me to lower that A1C and lose some weight. As for the macros, I often come close to or meet all categories except carbs, which is set at 115 g/day. I haven’t come close for a weekly average since I started. Since my A1C is down and we adjusted my caloric intake, we adjusted the carbs target to something more realistic, at 140g daily average. We’ll see how this works out over the next couple of months.
My daily averages for last week:
Calories: 1,719 (goal 1,800); Carbs: 172 (goal under 140g); Fiber: 21.7 (goal over 22g); Protein: 75.6g (goal 80g)
Weight: I lost 2.3 pounds last week.
During 2026 I plan:
- To be mindful of a healthy relationship with food. I will do this by being thoughtful of my food choices when I grocery shop, work from home, and eat out.
- To move and be mindful. I will do this by finding ways to integrate movement and options for mental wellbeing into my life. I will set weekly or monthly goals to help me achieve a better fitness balance.
- To remain an active member of FitReaders and support my fellow members. I will do this by actively participating in the FitReader Facebook Group and continuing to share my journey with my weekly check-in on the blog.
