Welcome to #FitReaders2026!! Felicia and I are excited to co-host this fitness-oriented group. If you have any questions about #FitReaders, you can leave them in the comment section or email me at twimom227(at)gmail(dot)com.
Most of our support is done via our Facebook Group. I post my weekly check-ins on Fridays, as it helps me be accountable. You are welcome to do your own check-in posts, check in below, in the comments, or check in with the Facebook group – whatever works for you!
I check in here every Friday, but my fitness week is Monday – Sunday. So my check-ins are always about a week behind.
Last Week (August 24 – August 30, 2026):

I had a lot going on last week! I was off all week and enjoyed the “end of summer.” On Monday, a dear friend from my days living in Seattle was in town with her youngest to look at colleges. We were able to grab a bite to eat outside of Boston. We think it has been about 17 years since we’ve seen each other in person. It was so nice to hang out.
Tuesday ended up being an adventure. I took my cat Charlie to the vet for his shots and annual check up. Then I went to meet my friend’s new kitten. She was home from college for the day, so then I went with her and her mom to take her back to Boston. But on the way, we decided to go visit my daughter so they could see her dorm room and then she was able to meet the new kitten. After the side trip to see my daughter, we went to Boston. We ended up ordering food from a yummy Italian pasta place before heading home.
Wednesday was spent catching up on all things reading and blogging. It felt good to answer emails and read. I went out to dinner with a local friend on Thursday. I got a manicure on Friday, caught up on paying bills and finances, then hung out with the neighbor friends by the fire that evening.
Saturday, my husband and I drove to my son’s new apartment in Connecticut. We had pizza in New Haven, visited areas he likes to walk and hike, drove by his place of work, enjoyed time together. After a quick breakfast and another scenic stop on Sunday, we headed home. Phew! what a week!
My Health:
To my surprise, I did much better last week than the previous one. Although my calories were generally over 1,600 each day, I didn’t have a huge spike, and the quality of the calories was a much better balance of macronutrients. In my head, I was eating a lot, but looking back, I made some good choices in the midst of the food-centric events. While I’m disappointed I didn’t get in any yoga, I did manage to walk at least 30 minutes on four of the days last week.
September looks to be a quiet month in terms of activities; however with the start of football, I’ll have more opportunities to snack. My goal is to continue the great progress I made over the summer by sticking with the plan and not sliding into bad habits. I will still celebrate and enjoy food, but I want to be picky (smart) about it.
My daily averages for last week:
Calories: 1,891 (goal 1,600); Carbs: 174.1g (goal under 115g); Fiber: 19.9g (goal over 22g); Protein: 87.6g (goal 80g)
Weight: I was down 1.3 pounds last week and down 2.9 pounds for the month of August.
During 2026 I plan:
- To be mindful of a healthy relationship with food. I will do this by being thoughtful of my food choices when I grocery shop, work from home, and eat out.
- To move and be mindful. I will do this by finding ways to integrate movement and options for mental wellbeing into my life. I will set weekly or monthly goals to help me achieve a better fitness balance.
- To remain an active member of FitReaders and support my fellow members. I will do this by actively participating in the FitReader Facebook Group and continuing to share my journey with my weekly check-in on the blog.
