We welcome diverse romances and #ownvoices authors.
If you are an author, publicist, or publisher and would like to have your book reviewed or schedule an author interview or guest post, please email me (Jen) at twimom227 (at) gmail (dot) com. Details on what needs to be included in your request are listed below. I will make all attempts to respond to your email within seven days, so if you don’t hear from me within a week, please contact me again. Sometimes “real life” makes mistakes with my email account!
Please note: I will not respond to any generic, spam, mass, or bulk emails, or promotional requests that are not book/romance-related or do not match content reviewed on the blog. I do not accept paid guest posts or guest posts that are not book-related.
I receive many more requests for reviews than I can feature on That’s What I’m Talking About. Because of this, I have created a book spotlight feature called Sunday Snippet. If I cannot schedule your title for review, please consider submitting a request to have it featured on Sunday Snippets (criteria is listed below).
That’s What I’m Talking About and its reviewers do not take any monetary compensation for reviews, Guest Posts, Sunday Snippets, or any other of its posts and/or features. There is no paid advertising on this blog. The only compensation for reviews is a copy of the book needed for the review. That’s What I’m Talking About, its owner and reviewers, do not restrict its features or reviews based on an author’s race, color, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, religion, age, disability, marital, or family status.

Review Policy:
My review team and I read and review books that we want to read. We read for the enjoyment and love to share our thoughts. We are not professional reviewers nor are we literary critics. Our reviews are our honest opinions of what we read. We feature reviews of ebooks, printed books, and audiobooks. We welcome diverse romances and promoting #ownvoices authors.
That’s What I’m Talking About primarily features romance and urban fantasy. In general, the blog features: romance (contemporary, paranormal, suspense, lgbtq, historical, sci-fi/fantasy), urban fantasy, fantasy, science fiction, steampunk, and mystery. Typically, we do not feature young or new adult; however, we may accept some YA/NA, depending on reviewer interest and availability. In general, we do not accept non-fiction, horror, or westerns (excluding cowboy romances). We will consider reviews from self-published authors; however, the book must be professionally edited. (Note: I am always open to author guest posts and/or a submission for our Sunday Snippet feature, even if the review schedule is full, so just ask!)
I select titles that I think my review team and I will enjoy reading, and because of this, most of our reviews are fairly positive. But each of us will be honest with any book we review. Additionally, we may decide not to finish a book, which may result in a “DNF” review or no review at all. Each reviewer has the final say over her review books and schedule and may choose not to review a book based on schedule or lack of interest.
If I select your book/audiobook for review, I will schedule a mutually agreeable review date upon receipt. This applies to audiobooks, ebooks, ARC/Galley books, or finished paper copies. If I have to move the review date, I will notify you as soon as possible, and select a new date.
Once the review is posted to That’s What I’m Talking About, I will cross advertise the review/feature on social media. If I personally wrote the review, I will also post it on GoodReads. I will not post reviews written by others on my review team to any other site other than this blog (with cross promotion on social media). It is up to each individual reviewer to decide if and what to post on those sites.
NOTE: We are currently not accepting titles for review.
My team and I accept paperback, hardcover, electronic books (ebooks), and audiobooks for review. Ebooks must be Kindle compatible.
My review team and I will treat your work with the utmost respect.

- Preferred review date/general timeline of request (no preference/no timeline is acceptable.) Please keep in mind that we are scheduling reviews 3-5 months out.
- If the book is part of a series, and it is not the first book in the series, please provide a complete reading order for the series, including the featured story. Please note if the books may be read independently of one another or not as well.
How to Request an Author Guest Post and Other Features:
If you would like to request an author guest post, cover reveal, book tour, book spotlight, interview, etc., please send me an email with the following information:
- Type of feature you are requesting (guest post, book spotlight, cover reveal, book tour, interview, other…).

After the request has been received and processed, I will respond to your email with suggested dates and requirements for the post. Each type of post has different requirements. For examples of each type of post, click here: AUTHOR GUEST POST, BOOK SPOTLIGHT, COVER REVEAL, INTERVIEW.
How to Request a Sunday Snippet Featured Spot:
- Book title, author name, publisher, publication date, and genre classification.
- Preferred dates for feature – the dates must be SUNDAYS. Please give 3-4 specific dates or a range of dates such as within a certain month. Please note that we are currently scheduled two months in advance for Sunday Snippets.
- Brief synopsis or summary of the book that will be featured. A link to the GoodReads page is also acceptable.
Once the book is scheduled for a Sunday Snippet, the following information will be required at least two weeks prior to the posting date:
- Book title, author name, publisher, publication date, series name and position within series (or list as standalone), and genre classification.
- A short excerpt that is 300 to 1,200 words in length. Material should be PG-13 and generally spoiler-free. Sex scenes are permissible, as long as they do not cross into R-rating territory. Mild profanity is allowed (think what is acceptable on network TV), and if you have stronger words, please obscure them (aka f**k and sh*t). Please note: A book synopsis is NOT an excerpt. The excerpt should be text directly from the book.
- The book synopsis “back cover blurb.”
- Include a graphic file of the book cover. Minimum size is roughly 250 x 400 pixels. (If you have questions or concerns about the graphic file requirements, please let me know).
